This week, the universe goes full drama queen in a 24-hour period. Naturally, that day is July 4, America’s birthday, when fireworks are likely to erupt in the sky and in your private life. Be sure to hydrate! 

Why? Because it’s hot! And you’re going to want to have a clear mind for the day’s headliner transit: Venus, the planet of love and attraction, is meeting up with Uranus, the planet of, well, surprises: sometimes good, sometimes neutral, sometimes not so great. (I am sorry Uranus isn’t more consistent, but Uranus certainly is not.) Whenever these two meet up, we can expect moments of significance, but this time the conditions feel – for better or worse – poetic. They’ll reach their conjunction at the final degree of Taurus, which is the most “Taurus” degree of the zodiac. Venus is at home here, lounging around in designer linens, being hand-fed expensive Japanese strawberries by her hot butlers, and planning her dinner order at 9 in the morning. Uranus is about to throw a wrench into her plans, but honestly, there’s a good chance she might enjoy the disruption.

What makes this an even bigger deal? In just a few days (spoiler for next week: July 7), Uranus leaves Taurus for Gemini for the first time since 1941. Meaning this is the last Venus–Uranus conjunction in Taurus we'll see for decades. Something unexpected is bound to spark. Or maybe something long-calcified will crack open.

Just a few hours later, Venus leaves her cosmic domicile for the chaotically brilliant sign of Gemini, trading grounded sensuality for curiosity and conversation. Maybe we’re talking about our feelings now that we’ve felt them. Maybe we’re investing our money now that we’ve made it!

Then, as if the cosmos were handing out permission slips for introspection, Neptune stations retrograde in Pisces. This happens every year, so there’s definitely no need to panic.
